Chateau du Champs des Treilles, le Petit Champ 2016, Sainte-Foy-Bordeaux AOC Wine
Blend: 50% Merlot, 27% Cabernet Franc, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Petit Verdot
This wine is from Sainte-Foy-Bordeaux which is on the edge of the Bordeaux region. The vineyards were first planted by Corrine's grandparents who were Italians who immigrated to France in the 1920s. Corrine's first memories are of her childhood playing with her brother on a blanket at the end of vine rows. This wine shows the care and love that comes from several generations tending the land. It is a fantastic example of entry level Bordeaux and an absolute steal! Please note that the image shown may not be representative of the stated vintage.
Corinne captures the essence of the fruit in her first cuvée of red by delicate extraction (“the only extraction is done on the vine!”) and cuve ageing. The fruit is ripe, natural, with dark cherry, fruits of the forest and hints of spice and dark chocolate. It has a lovely play on the palate with great freshness and has very finely tuned, ripe tannins on the finish.
"Each wine is considered as a single child. They are all different. We owe them the best as well as a motherly protection in which fertilizers and pesticides have obviously no place. With trust and respect, we help them to express the personality of the place where they have grown"
